Oh dear, it's been much too long since we have posted to the blog. Happy New Year to all! We hope you all had a wonderful holiday season.

I just posted a couple pictures from our recent trip to Mexico for some sunshine. Libby and her boys joined us - and we had a great time. Had a really nice Christmas with our families in Ohio too.

The girls are both enjoying middle school. The workload has increased for Maddie this year in 8th grade, and Sophie has learned to navigate the halls of Tappan. Both enjoy playing club soccer as well as several sports at Tappan.

Bob is doing well too -- the infusion of sunshine definitely was appreciated.

Alaskan adventure

Sorry its been so long!

Finally have a chance to catch our breaths for a few minutes during so far what has been a busy but fun summer. Where do I even begin...

The end of the school year was exciting as always. Sophie "graduated" from 5th grade and burns park school and will be headed to Tappan Middle School. She is excited about it but a little nervous too. Maddie will help her pave the way. Sophie also badly bruised her foot playing soccer at PE a couple weeks before the end of teh school year and is just now (7 weeks later) able to bear some weight on it. Needless to say it has cut into many of her summer activities but she is a trooper.

Maddie has an excellent end of the school year. She enjoyed running track for Tappan. She also made the A team at Canton for travel soccer next year. This is a significant step up in terms of commitment and skills so she is excited but nervous too. Four a week practices start in august. It's also a big year as she begins her confirmation prep so it will be a busy year for her.

Tonight we have a breather with no softball game. Between both girls' teams, we have games most M, T, W, Th nights. It's been a bit of a bummer that sophie can't play but we hoping maybe she can make an appearance before the end of the season. Bob is coaching both teams this year - it's a handful but he is enjoying it, as he does with all of his coaching.

We just returned from wonderful trip to Alaska. We've been planning it for a long time so we are a bit shocked it is already here and gone. We started by boarding a boat in Vancouver to wiggle our way through the inside passage up to Seward. Such beautiful scenery -- whales, dolphins, seals, sea lions, puffins, sea otters - but the glaciers were most spectacular. We enjoyed having Gretchen's mom along on the trip and the wonderul dinners each night with a spectacular view out the back of the boat. Once we got of the boat, we enjoyed taking the Alaska railroad from city to city include Seward, Anchorage, Denali and Fairbanks. Denali was breath takingly beautiful - Mt. Mckinley greeted us with a perfectly clear day. And the moose, caribou, dall sheet, and grizzles made us feel really welcome. If you ever get the change to go to AK, seize it. So worth itt.

OK, now to try to post some pictures.

It was a cold day but a lot of fun. Also incredibly fun was Maddie's middle school play Grease which included 3 performances over the weekend!! She did such a great job on crew with the sets and props!

Really ready for spring!!

Very delayed update

How in the world did it get to be March already!! I am sorry it's been so long since we have posted. Life has been good, just a little too busy. Let me provide a quick update.

Bob continues to do well -- he has biweekly appointments with Dr. Lu and we continue nightly acupressure. But needless to say that all of our bodies are ready for spring!!

The girls are great. Both continue with indoor soccer which is lower key and fun. Maddie tried out and made the volleyball team at school! She had her first game tonight and played well. Fun to try a new sport. She is also doing the crew again for her middle school musical grease. Get your tickets now for the performances March 24-26!

We had a wonderful trip to Florida at the end of Feb. I am posting a few pictures including Bob parasailing with his sister Gayle (the girls and I have never had the inkling to give it a try so thank goodness for Gayle!). We had exquisite weather!

Some fun A2A3.org events coming up that we hope you will join us for. On Saturday March 25, we have the 3rd annual box car derby - build your own car or use one of ours. Also a very fun event! On April 1 is the first annual twinkie run. It's a 5k run with intermittent stops to eat twinkies - what a concept! Check out the website to learn more: www.a2a3.org.
